About Me
As an allied health professional with a background in therapeutic rehabilitation, I believe that the most effective strategy for treating common physical ailments in the body is through movement.
My background
I graduated in Occupational Therapy from Southampton University in 2004. I worked in the NHS, starting my career at St Mary’s teaching hospital in London, and specialising in Neurological rehabilitation. I then worked as OT team leader in the Neurology team at Buckingham healthcare trust. After developing a keen interest in upper limb dysfunction, I undertook further graduate training to become a Hand Therapist and now work at a senior level at Stoke Mandeville hospital.
I was introduced to the APPI method of Pilates in 2008. The APPI method of clinical Pilates focuses on using specific Pilates based exercises that challenge posture, balance, strength and stability to rehabilitate.
I have used Pilates as a rehabilitation tool to help patients with backpain, herniated disc, multiple sclerosis, scoliosis, chronic fatigue, rheumatoid arthritis, physical disabilities, and sporting injuries. I also have a passion for Prenatal Pilates and have further trained with midwife Mollie O’Brien, to develop my birthing preparation workshops.
